Disgusting TV Ads
Is it just me, or are commercials on TV becoming more and more R rated and even closer to becoming X rated?? I despise the Burger King and Hardees commercials. They are disgusting and I've let them know. I will not spend a dime at either place until they clean up their acts. I've also asked BK to get rid of that creepy king of theirs.
Is it any wonder America is suffering from such moral decay? Sex has become so cheapened that the actual "intimacy" of it is worthless. There's nothing "special" about it anymore. It's just another "feel good" that people want -- at any cost.
More and more children are being exposed to sex earlier and earlier in their little lifetimes. They no longer get to be children. If they themselves aren't exploited through child porn or sold for dope, they're shown the deviant side of something that should be private and beautiful on television commercials and shows. No one seems to care. Even their video games are pornographic.
I think we in America need to start our own Save the Children program, only instead of saving them from starvation and deplorable living conditions, we need to save them from US, the adults and the advertising community.
We certainly have become a desensitized nation. I read years ago about it happening, but I guess I didn't expect it to be so bad in my life time. Sex and violence are just words now. How very tragic.
I am hopeful that the pendulum will once again swing back, but I think we have a ways to go before that happens. I just hope it doesn't break down on the way back.

ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the Hardees commercials because I don't think we have that chain in our area. The commercials that really make me feel icky are those K-Y ads. I find them disgusting. The man and the wife in bed talking about "stimulating her -" and he kind of glances at her lower area. TMI! I think they must have had complaints about it because the other day instead of the man just looking and not using any words he said "stimulates your arousal." My sister and I looked at each other and said "Did he just say it stimulates her razzle?"I had to rewind it 3 or 4 times before we made out the word arousal. They really go way too far. I long for the days of Rob and Laura Petrie sleeping in separate beds and saying "expecting" a baby instead of hearing the disgusting "knocked up".

See? We can agree!!!! And I aree with you about Rob and Laura. Those were the best days of television. AND, I hate those KY ads. I got a chuckle out of what your sister and you thought he said. That's too cute. No K-Y is gonna stimulate MY razzle!!
ReplyDeleteI saw the Hardee's ad on HuffPo and it's DISGUSTING! Just awful! I can see why you were so repulsed. Vile! What idiot thought that it would make people hungry and want to get them some. Yuck!
