No a/c and the rest of my week
Well, it's been a week and I confess that I'm happy the weekend is here, though I'm not sure why.
We've been without air conditioning during this week of mid-80's plus humidity. It was nice enough outside, but I couldn't get the outside to come inside. I couldn't get enough windows open for several reasons, which I won't bore you with here, so little air flow could occur. Nights were the worst. I don't sleep well when I'm hot and the two fans I had blowing on me didn't have enough wind to cool me enough. And as an added complaint, sleeping with the windows open has encouraged my allergies to flair to where I'm now unmedicated, hot, tired, sneezing, coughing, aching (no fever so I know it's not the pig flu), and sweaty all the time. Today was better -- cloud cover, cooler temps, and rain. Perhaps I'll sleep better tonight.
The a/c needs work and we put it off, of course, until the heat crept up on us. Hopefully, we'll get it up and running this weekend. Sure can't afford a new unit and I don't think I can do too many more nights in the tropics.
I worked at the clinic tonight (I've changed from Saturday mornings to Friday evenings so I'll have more weekend). All the while I was there, it stormed outside. Of course the worst waited until I was ready to go home. Being the daring sort I am (Captain Courageous according to the Facebook quiz), I decided to head home anyway. After about a block, I was kinda wishing I'd have waited awhile. The rain began coming down in sheets, the wind was blowing, the streets were flooding, and the parts that weren't flooding were reflecting the lights so bad, it was hard to tell where I was on the road! I did make it home safe and sound -- obviously.
I worked part of my tail off this week, though not so much as you'd notice. I worked Tuesday and Thursday at the restaurant after Madie left. Tuesday night I worked at the clinic. The rest of the days were pretty normal, whatever that is.
Did NOT watch the Obama show on Wednesday night. But, I wasn't alone. His viewership dropped considerably from his last pat-himself-on-the-back show. Maybe soon he'll join the ranks of MSNBC and CNN.
I'm going to call it a day by popping a couple allergy tabs and a game of Nintendo DS Scrabble.
'Til morrow . . .
